Hello! I’m Katie Rotanz. I help small businesses stand out with beautiful, modern, minimal designs.
I love working with passionate business owners that are excited to enhance their overall image on the web and in print. Once I work with a client on a logo or website project, I’m available on an ongoing basis for website updates, print materials, email newsletters, branded materials and more. To learn more about my process and pricing, visit my services page.
I love establishing systems and processes and there are some great online tools out there to increase efficiency within your business. A few of these may only be useful for professional services like graphic design, but I feel like most of them can work for most industries.
This post isn’t necessarily about the best tools out there, but it’s what works for me. I’m always curious about people’s work flows and systems so I thought I’d share some nerdy admin stuff that I get excited about.
Two of the scariest and rewarding things I’ve done in my life have been traveling solo in another country and starting my own business. As I look back on my time in South America and quitting my full time job, I realized that solo travel and starting a business have actually been very similar life experiences for me.
Passwords can be a pain to keep track of. Each website requires a strong, unique password with varying characters and symbols. How are you supposed to remember them all? If you’re like me, you’ve been through the maze of resetting passwords, getting locked out and talking to customer support. The best thing you can do for simplicity and security, is to use a password manager. Ever since I saw a cyber security expert speak about LastPass at a conference, I’ve been using it almost every day. LastPass is a free password manager and in this post I’ll tell you why it’s important and how to set it up.
Owning a business can be amazing. You make your own money, make your own decisions and make your own schedule. But, recently I’ve learned that tragedy can strike fast. Within one week I learned that my dad’s restaurant was being sued and filing bankruptcy and my fiancé’s work vehicles were set on fire. It has been incredibly heartbreaking and stressful dealing with these incidents, but I hope that by sharing these stories, other business owners will be better prepared for worst case scenarios.
