Piedmont Triad Region
I was honored to design the tourism logo for the Piedmont Triad Region of North Carolina which includes Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point located in the central part of the state. I worked in collaboration with the Magellan Strategy Group (brand strategy and research) and Brain Hooks (creative direction and project management).
Since there isn’t a dominant geographic feature to focus on in this region, we centered our attention on everything that has been “made” there. This region is known for their furniture, textiles, tobacco, and pottery as well as large brand names such as Texas Pete and Krispy Kreme that started here. Knowing this, we decided to focus on the idea of a swiss army knife because of the many types of makers and “tools” there are in the area. I was particularly inspired by pottery tools for the mark because of the large population of potters in Seagrove, NC. The mark is an abstract swiss army knife with vibrant and welcoming colors and a handwritten, “homemade” script.
