My top 5 business and marketing podcasts
If you’ve read any of my other blogs, you know how gung ho I am about education. I studied design at Virginia Tech, all things web and coding at ABTech and I joke that I’m currently getting my marketing and business degree via podcast.
The truth is, there are so many FREE ways to educate yourself and podcasts are a wonderful resource. I pretty much listen to 1-2 podcasts a day, typically while I’m getting ready in the morning, washing dishes, doing laundry, showering, walking the dog, etc. I love learning, especially when I can also be productive in other areas of my life (and not spend a dime!).
Many people have asked me for podcast recommendations, so I wanted to share my top business and marketing related podcasts for all you business owners out there.
The Goal Digger Podcast
Jenna Kutcher is a total machine and I’ve probably listened to about 90% of her podcasts. She has a photography background and dives into all things business, finances, starting a business, goal setting, social media strategies and more. She’s inspiring and hosts so many wonderful guests. Jenna isn’t afraid to go into specifics about her own life and journey and makes you feel like anything is achievable. Definitely one of my favs! Learn more here.
Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield
Amy Porterfield has tons of great marketing tips and specializes in email marketing, online businesses and course creation. One thing I really love about this podcast is that Amy makes sure you have actionable takeaways from each episode and does a really good job of simplifying topics so they’re understandable. I’ve learned so much from her and her guests and would definitely encourage you to check her out. Learn more here.
Pursuit with Purpose
I absolutely love this podcast and Melyssa Griffin. I found this podcast during a time where I really needed her mindfulness approach to business so I could allow myself to back away from the “hustle” mindset. Melyssa offers a different perspective on what it means to be a successful entrepreneur and human. I don’t think she’s posted a new podcast in a while, but she still has a fantastic library of episodes. Because of her I’ve started meditating regularly and have challenged myself to view my work and life in a healthier way. Learn more here.
I feel like I’m actually friends with Emily Thompson and Kathleen Shannon after listening to many of their episodes. I was particularly drawn to this podcast because they both have a design background which makes it very relatable for me. While I was drawn to them for this reason initially, they do an incredible job to speaking to all types of freelancers and business owners. They provide resources and tips, but also have a large community of “bosses” and have written a book called “Being Boss” which I haven’t read (yet!). I remember a time specifically when I was feeling a lot of anxiety around my business and I happened to find an episode that they produced about handling anxiety as a business owner. After the episode I felt so much better knowing that other people could relate and that it’s fairly common to feel these things when you’re self-employed. On top of that, these two have me giggling all the time. Learn more here.
Productivity Paradox with Tonya Dalton
I’ve only just started listening to this podcast, but so far I find it very inspiring! I actually saw Tonya speak at Creative Mornings Asheville and was super impressed by her productivity tips. She has over 100 episodes all about time management, prioritizing, and other productivity strategies that I’ve already started implementing into my work days. I actually had one of the most productive days after listening to her podcast recently. Learn more here.
It wasn’t until I finished writing this blog that I realized all of these podcasts are produced by ladies! It wasn’t intentional at all, but I kinda love it :) While I don’t ALWAYS listen to business related podcasts, it definitely is my favorite topic. I’m also a huge fan of crime and political podcasts, but we’ll save that for another day.
Okay, now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear what you like to listen to! Please post your favorites in the comments below.
